Heritage Futures: re-designing the past
Explore our open exhibition, a celebration of deaf histories past and future. Located at Deaf Action’s historic deaf centre in Edinburgh’s new town, our festival venue holds a significant place in history as the first formally constituted deaf organization in the world. For over 130 years the building on Albany Street has been the heart of Edinburgh’s deaf community and continues to be a cultural asset to this day. From the pioneering days of the Benevolent Society to the remarkable life of Deaf Action’s founder, Alexander Blackwood, we invite you to explore Edinburgh Deaf Festival’s official venue, immerse yourself in the rich heritage, and be inspired by the incredible works of emerging deaf talent.
