Almost 50 years ago, a ground-breaking research project began at Moray House in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh BSL Research Project played a vital role in the journey toward British Sign Language being recognised as a language.
In this special event, Lilian Lawson shares her experience as part of the original research team, offering insight into a pivotal moment in deaf history. Dr Audrey Cameron will introduce the current Digitisation Project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which is working to preserve and share the legacy of this important work. Join us to learn more about the roots of BSL research in Scotland and the people who helped shape its future.
