Welcome to the Signing Quarter
We want deaf people to have the best possible experience at the Edinburgh Deaf Festival, both on and off the stage. That’s why we’ve partnered with local businesses to create the Edinburgh Signing Quarter, a welcoming network of deaf-friendly cafés, bars, and spaces in the Broughton Street and Canonmills neighbourhood, just steps from our festival venue.
Deaf-friendly venues
Each participating venue has committed to making their space more accessible. Staff have received deaf awareness training and learned some basic British Sign Language. But more than that, they’ve made a conscious effort to create an environment where deaf people feel welcome and included.
New venues are joining all the time, so check back here to discover the latest additions to the Edinburgh Signing Quarter.
