MAKE THIS YEAR’S EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL EVEN MORE ACCESSIBLE
We are delighted to announce that this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe just got even more accessible! Our friends at SignPort, in partnership with Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, have made it even easier to browse a selection of accessible shows directly through the app or even organise your own interpreter with the BSL Interpreter Request Scheme!
Want to see a show but it isn’t accessible?
SignPort is now working in partnership with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society to deliver the Fringe Interpreter Request Scheme. If Edinburgh Fringe is part of your August, this update makes it easier to find and request BSL-interpreted shows in one place.

How it works
- Visit the SignPort website and download the SignPort app.
- Open SignPort and browse Fringe shows by date, venue, or category.
- Check the accessibility status:
- Shows with a confirmed BSL interpreter will be marked as interpreted.
- Shows without an interpreter can be requested.
- Select the performance you would like to attend and submit an interpreter request through the app.
- Deaf Action’s interpreting team will receive your request and work with the Fringe Society, venue, and performers to arrange interpretation where possible.
- Track updates in the app and chat directly with the Deaf Action team if needed.
- Receive a notification when an interpreter has been confirmed for your requested performance.
- Book your ticket using the show’s ticket link available in the SignPort app once interpretation is confirmed.
