Michael Woods: Mount Everest Speaker

Duration: 2 hours
Age Suitability: 16+ | Discussion of dangerous conditions on Everest, serious injury, death, and encounters with deceased climbers on the mountain
Price: £15

Accessibility:

Michael Woods is the first British Deaf person to summit Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. Over an eight-week expedition, he faced extreme weather, dangerous conditions, and physical exhaustion, all without the support of a BSL interpreter.

Communicating visually and through written notes with his expedition team, Michael overcame barriers that many thought impossible. In this inspiring and honest talk, he will share his remarkable journey of determination, resilience, and courage. Hear about the challenges he faced, the moments he nearly lost his life, and what it took to reach the summit.

Presentation will be delivered in BSL with English PowerPoint. BSL/English interpreters will be provided to ensure the event is accessible to both deaf and hearing audience members.
