Improving accessibility

We’re thrilled that so many of our festival friends and partners have made even more of their events accessible this year. But we know that sometimes, deaf people want to see a performance during the Fringe and it isn’t accessible… yet!

That’s why we’re excited to be delivering this initiative in partnership with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society.

Want to see a Fringe show but it isn’t accessible?

Did you know we offer an Interpreter and Captioning Request Service? If you want to see a performance at any of the other Edinburgh festivals but it isn’t yet accessible, ask us. Deaf Action will aim to source an interpreter or captioner to make sure you can see the performance you want, when you want.

How it works

(1) You find a performance you want to see
(2) Ask Deaf Action to request a communication professional
(3) We try to match the show with the right interpreter or captioner
(4) You go to the show and enjoy yourself!

Make sure to include the date and time of the performance(s) you want to see in your enquiry.

*please note this service is subject to availability
